Shenmue III was definitely the hardest, mostly cause of the fx-heavy ending. Terry gave up on the lightsabers about 1/3 of the way through the scene, so I took over from there on the rest of the rotoscoping. Which was nothing compared to the Mike Army fight scenes. Not to mention we came up with the whole Advent Children-like ending with Ryo's friends all throwing him up into the sky without actually thinking through how we were going to pull it off technically (good thing Jack came around to bail us out with his animations). That's the main reason why Shenmue III is only getting a DVD makeover and not being entirely re-edited like all the previous remastered movies (well that and the fact that I lost a tape of raw footage shortly after the movie was finished).

the hardest thing i ever edited was "gundams in motion" or whatever the fuck we called that pachebel gundam animation piece.
mike started bring'in it to me after that.
i wouldnt mind editing stuff again. now that i have a computer that can handle it. i just try to concentrate on drawing (and writing to a lesser extent as of lately).

Was it the Chroma Keying in the Mike Army that was difficult and do you guys still talk to Jack?

Oh wow, that sucks. Didn't you say something like that happened with the original clips for Gang Wars or something? Mike...what's goin' on?

The chroma keying was a lot harder on the other actors than it was on the Mikes, since I could adjust the colors on the Mikes a lot more to make them look statue-ish. The harder part was lining everything up compositionaly so that that actors punches would line up with my reactions, and keyframing all the crumbling fx and so forth. Not to mention all the random Mikes doing "battle battles" in the background of each shot.
Haven't talked to Jack much since the last animation he did for us in The Final Jerkoff. He's busy with other stuff.
I don't recall anything happening to the Gang Wars footage...I still have all the raw stuff. Same with every other movie. Tempted to milk it some more by releasing "Gang Raw," which would be DVDs of just the raw footage from each movie so you can see just how crappy our shooting process is.
