Because you guys are always remastering your movies (feels like there's going to be another remaster in 2010), what do you do with your old disks? Assuming you made extra disks of the old versions (just in case someone brought a copy), do you guys just throw them in the air and blow them up, Star Wars style?

I give them all to Joey, who will never watch them and therefore never discover that he doesn't even have the good versions. Seriously, he doesn't even keep his Gang movies on display with his other movies. He keeps them shoved in the bottom of a desk drawer cause he doesn't want anybody to know about them.

Would it be bad if I said that my Gang movies are also in a drawer? Not because I'm ashamed, but because anything good I want to preserve. That and all my selves are taken up by anime dvds.

That's acceptable cause, you know...you didn't help MAKE them. I'm sure if you're face were on the cover, you might have a little more pride about it. Then again, I wonder where Eileen keeps the movies that have her face on the cover (do you even have your own copies?).

Yup. I have them. They're on my bookshelf with my other movies. I even made Dan watch Shenmue 3 with me... well actually we just fast-forwarded to the parts I was in.

I did actually just let Mike know about a plausible method to not upscale, but actually increase the resolution of all our old movies to 1920x1080, and release them all on Bluray. As opposed to an upscaling algorithm, like the ones in photoshop, this method creates a vector map of an image, which is essentially resolution-less, and then just stretches the vector points. If there's tiny details, stretching it a ton and zooming way in basically starts looking like the oil paint effect from photoshop, but for 720x480 to 1920x1080 you'd probably never notice. The only actual sort of problem is that you'd have to export each frame as a separate image, and do a batch convert of all of them. This would take a while, but if you spread it across a bunch of computers, could be practical to convert it. Converting those images to video on the other hand, that would take some time too I think. But, it is possible.
Alternately, if any of you forum dwellers want to set up the gang's official HD Renovation department, now's your chance.
Alternately alternately, we could have just turned on that "HD" button on the camera for the last couple movies...

*shrugs, moves arm up in air* I'll do it. I mean, I'm still in school anyways so I can still take up alot of computers for rendering. You may not get a blue-ray burner for a long time, but it's always nice to have some good images.
Here's another thought: My sister demanded the mirror, and also subtitles when we were watching DS5 (we choosen to use the dvd player that sucks the most with audio so yeah).
